In 2012, Aegis purchased the old Swanbourne Hospital after the iconic building having been left vacant and officially closed since 1986. This historic Perth landmark has been carefully transformed into a fully functioning 80 bed Residential Aged Care Facility which pays homage to the rich history of the site.

 

About The Role

This is an exciting and unique opportunity for a highly motivated, highly skilled, attention to detail and hands on maintenance person with drive and passion for maintaining this historic building to preserve one of WA’s treasured healthcare sites for the benefit of residents to assist with their daily quality care and lifestyle within the facility.

You will be responsible for the reactive and proactive maintenance of the building, it's services and equipment.  You will also oversee contracted preventative maintenance schedules and require knowledge of mechanical service equipment, fire and emergency equipment, plumbing, gas and electrical equipment, sophisticated air conditioning systems, building fixtures and fittings.

While this is a Monday to Friday role, there will be times where you are required to attend the site out of hours at short notice.

 

Skills and Abilities

To be successful in this role you will have: 

  • Personal ethos for delivering and sustaining hiqh quality maintenance services to a level which preserves buildings to their original state
  • Experience in maintenance service within the healthcare sector, accommodation sector and/or community residential sector (desirable)
  • Experience in maintaining a Heritage building
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • High level of computer literacy and demonstrated ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Strong customer service focus
  • An approachable and friendly demeanour  
  • Trade qualification
  • 5 years’ experience in maintenance / trade role
  • Current National Police Check no more than 3 months old
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Certification and Working at Heights Ticket
